[Hammarlund] John R. Leary Mods

Many, many modifications, not all of the receivers he rebuilt had the same
ones either. Calibrators, 2nd mixer mods, product detector, audio, jacks for
adding a digital display, chassis modifications, custom built avc circuit,
voltage regulator tube(s), solid stating the power supply rectifier. He
would usually build them to the customers specification. I've owned three,
all were different. Documentation was very poor and mostly hand scribbled
notes that didn't make a lot of sense to anybody but John. Unfortunately he
has passed away, so nobody knows for sure exactly how many he built or what
modifications they had. I do have a list, but it is incomplete.

Some of the modifications worked great, others not as well. One thing about
the three I owned, they were all "hot" receivers.

The one I presently own is a black wrinkle faced SP-600 that works fabulous
and is very stable.

YMMV.
