And, dig out that old "egg beater" hand drill.  Slower is better. Even 
better is the two speed breast drill type hand drill. On slow speed you get 
more torque and slower action.

The rivets likely have their punched-over end on the under side of the 
chassis. The advice of catching the shavings is good. A small vacuum 
cleaner nozzle held nearby does a fine job.

Once the rivet end is drilled off, you may need a tap or two from a center 
punch or nail to free the rivet from the socket hole or chassis.

Any good phenolic socket will do - ceramic is not needed as it is in the 
Collins S-line power supply plate rectifier (a 5R4 delivering about a 
kilovolt DC).
