[Hammarlund] HQ-170 Question

Hello,

First, I would like to thank all of you who responded to my last
question about distortion and difficulty in tunning in a SSB signal. It
turned out to be the usual, dirty connectors and a very careful alignment.

Yesterday I did an RF alignment. It went fine except for the following.
The 21 MHZ band has very low sensitivity, around 12 uV, using my ear for
the lowest discernible signal I could hear (MDS). (20 Meters for example
was under 1 uV). The oscillator coil T-25 adjusted the frequency of the
oscillator fine. But, the RF coil T-21 has no adjustment. Suspect a bad
cap or broken coil wire the Can. Is it possible to remove the cover
using the clip device on the bottom of the can without un-soldering the
whole thing?

Also, the sensitivity on 80 meters is not very good and 160 has very bad
sensitivity, around 30 uV MDS. On both of these low bands, all
adjustments worked as they are suppose to.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
DW Holtman
