Thats a very good point. If someone does not replace the mounting gear
for the dial correctly,
 the dial will not line up well with the min/max settings of the cap.
There is a little play in
 the dial to make adjustments, but not alot.

Of all the SP-600's I have seen over the years, 90% of the problem lies
with 
the mechanical alignment of the dials. Make sure the line up with the
proper 
lines prior to doing the electrical if and rf alignments. One well known

rebuilder of SP-600's (now a SK) was notorious for not having the dials 
"zeroed" on his rebuilds.
