The model or "suffix" number has nothing to do with it may or may not have
black tubular capacitors. The serial number is the key indicator. Any SP-600
with a serial number of 175XX or higher came from Hammarlund with ceramic
disc capacitors. All SP-600's were built with consecutive serial numbers
independent of model/suffix number.
Many times you will see a JX-14 with a higher serial number than say a
JX-26. They built the majority of them from 1951 to 1960, then production
slowed way down. The last ones built were the rare JX-21A with 22 tubes and
a product detector.

If I'm not mistaken, JX-26's generally

beauties".
I have a 'JX-26 and it was just /loaded/ with
BBOD's. It took 2 weekends to replace them all (I
suspect I may have missed one or two, but it still
works after 17 years) but it was well worth it.
Don't even /think/ of trying anything to it until
you replace the caps. Don't even use the set until
you do.
