Hello HAMMARLUND FANS,
This is my FIRST POST to this reflector. My first exposure to HAMMARLUND was in the AIR FORCE as a GROUND RADIO MAINTENANCE student in Tech School at Keesler AFB, MS in Sets in the early part of 1962. That was the last I ever saw of that smooth tuning SP-600 Series Receiver. From there after, all I ran into were R-390A's. Since retiring in Nov 83, I have aquired or had many different HAMMARLUND Receivers. The current one the I have a question about is on the history of the HQ-120. I also just aquired my second one which is in a cabinet with side handles, that I traded an HQ-140 for. The 1st one is a HQ-120 that has a 19" rack mounting and there look almost identical except for a module connected on top the rear RF Cage which coontains a tube and a 200 KC Xtal. The Data Plate on tip to theremovable semi case is missing. The patent plate inside just denotes an "ORDER NUMBER", which make me believe that is was destined for military service. The Serial Number portion of the tag
is not filled in. Another question that I have is what is the difference between a HQ-120 and a HQ-120X. Both receivers are stamped on the front panel as HQ-120. However, my most recent aquisition has the Patent Plate identifies as a HQ-120-X? Also, I'm in need of any literature or manuals that may be available.
Looking forward to any replys.
