[Hammarlund] HQ-140X tube swaps

Hello group,   I have a question regarding tube substitutions.  I replaced 
my 6BA6 RF amp tube with a 6BZ6 and seems to bring up the gain a bit.  Also 
replaced the 5U4 with a solid state plug in I had that was installed in my 
HQ-145, works fine, brought up volume and gain a bit as well, higher plate 
voltages I suppose.  I was thinking about trying a 6HS6 in place of the 6BA6 
IF tubes.  I remember an article about upgrading heathkit SB receivers that 
used 6AU6's with the quieter 6HS6 Mixer tube, was a nice improvement in 
noise level.  Has anyone tried this yet?  Results and opinions on what I 
have done so far?  Thanks,
