I recently sold my pride and joy, the HQ170 & S-200 speaker to a dear friend
in Anchorage. I paid good money to double box the radio. Radio inside was
stuffed with insulation to prevent damage to tubes. Six layers of large bubble
wrap and in a tight fit box and then inserted in a 30x24x24 box with 4 inches
of white foam insulation surrounding the inner box. The outer box was wrapped
in many layers of reinforced tape. and FRAGILE marked all over the box.

The fellow had a relative passing thru Seattle and took the box on Alaska
Air as checked baggage (52 lbs).

The problem developed at the Anchorage airport when the security team took
the radio out of the packaging to check out the contents and did not carefully
repack (of course). Scratches were added at this time to an almost pristine
radio.

So in spite of all precautions and expense, the package did not make the
journey safely. Oh did I mention they repacked upside down too.

Not sure how to deal with double digit IQs at the airports but just sharing
this experience. (the speaker was mailed separately).
