Hi Andy,

I'm in the Tokyo airport so I don't a 140 schematic in front of me but all
BFO's are pretty much alike. Do you know for sure the BFO tuned circuit is
resonate at 455kc or not? Use a GDO if you have a coil that goes low enough
in frequency otherwise make sure something in the tuned circuit isn't
shorted or open and that cap is not leaky or off value. Also, the coil may
be shorted or open?

Good luck, k0eoo

At this point I'm REALLY tearing my hair out. I've replaced all the
micas and resistors in the BFO circuit plus most of the resistors and
micas on the 6AL5 end, the 6AL5, the 12AU7, cleaned the switch, nothing
seems to bring the BFO back to life. The called for voltages on the BFO
side of the 12AU7 are off. I get 43 volts on the plate where I'm
supposed to get 75 and nothing on the grid where I'm supposed to get
-13. I'm at my wits end. Any ideas for an old musician? Thanks.
