Hey Julian, I have an HQ110-C and like it very much. On your #2 question, I don't know. Mine is still original and working fine. I don't use it very often but I probabaly will change over to a three wire grounded AC feed in the near future. Since I already have it connected to a good earth ground, I doubt that hooking to the power company's  ground would improve performance. Then again, I'm not an an electrician...I only play one at work. Anyway, about a year or more ago a member posted a detailed description on the proper way to safely convert a Hammarlund to polarized and grounded AC. So check the site archive.
