You can disassemble the IF can and replace the internal caps with small
mica types. You'll need patience and a good digital camera or take
detailed notes and drawings so you can get it all back together okay. Be
sure to remember or mark the orientation of the can to the chassis.
Determining the value of the original cap (caps?) could be a problem. A
temporary substitution of a small variable or a good kit of fixed value
mica's and lots of trial and error might work. You might be able to use
a grid dipper if one is available to know which way to go.
Maybe someone on the list has rebuilt T2 before and remembers the value?
I replaced a cap in one of the IF cans in an HQ-170 so it can be done.
In my case there was only one cap to replace and I mounted it external
to the can at the IF can terminals.
Earlier on this list someone posted the URL of a gentleman parting out
various radios. Finding a used replacement is also an option.
