It would be ok to lubricate the band change cam and band change gears that
rotate the turret, but "DO NOT" lubricate the brass gears for the tuning
mechanism. It cautions against this in the various manuals. "ANY" lubricant
on those gears will inevitably find it way onto the brass friction drive and
cause dial slipping. I can guarantee you that is the culprit of 99.9% of
dial slippage on the SP-600 series.

Leave it where it is. It contains stuff that is BAD for you. When soldering,
do
NOT breathe the fumes it makes.

No. Lubricate very sparingly.
Get rid of the dust.
