The 170A had fixed BFO injection for SSB detection and in CW
position the BFO was tunable.
In the 170, the tunable BFO was used for both. 170 has solid state power
supply and the 170 uses a
5U4 rectifier tube. 170A has 500 ohm audio output as well as 3.2 ohm. Also
had a socket in the rear to work with
the HX-50 transmitter. Also had 50 ohm antenna jack in form of an SO-239
jack as well as the 450 to 600 ohm
barrier strip for the antenna Late 170A's also came with a factory
installed noise silencer.
Thanks!!
