First, I want to than everybody for there input on my SP-600 project. I'm
not going into detail as to which part I replaced but will recap on a few
highlights. Near basket case when received, extra holes in front panel,
resistors burnt up, missing knobs.
Well, last evening it had completed its alignment and what a joy to set
there and listen to AM'ers and SSB stations along with doing some DX.
I completely redone the front panel and filled in the extra holes. Replaced
broken couplings and a missing shaft. Completely rebuilt the mechanical tune
section. Overlays are new for both dials. Completely recapped all the
bumblebees and a few micas. Replace the RF gain control, electrolytics.
Cleaned all switches. NOS tubes all around, used 5749 and 5750's in place of
the 6BA6's and 6BE6's. Fixed the single/double conversion switch on the back
of the turret ( broken in half ).
This receiver was a pleasure to work on and really enjoyed the progress
reports to the reflector.
Again, THANKS to all for there help and input to get this piece of history
back into operating condition.
Regards,
Gary...WZ1M
