Hi Mike,

Oh I'm sorry I didn't answer your question. To me it was a good idea for 
this DX radio because the crystal filters cut off so much treble already 
that if it had good bass response it would probably be even more difficult 
to understand speech, although as I said before I would have preferred tone 
controls, but it works for what it is supposed to do.
