[Hammarlund] SP-600 progress

Well, the mechanical part is back together on my SP-600JX-1. Not a difficult
as one mite think. All the brass gears are nice and shiny. No more tune
slippage and now the band pointer works. Several diagrams and digital pics
made this an easy tear down and rebuild. One word of caution. There is one
gear that sits on a ball bearing and also has a ball bearing on the other
side which is up against a tension screw and lock nut. Be sure you don't
loose the ball's when disassembly.
    I also found a bad bathtub cap. Markings said
2 X .05. I removed the bottom and cleaned up all the oil. I then removed the
two caps inside and replaced them with nos film caps. I melted down some
potting material that I use on transformer rewinds and poured that into the
capacitor. Looks god and my guess will work good.
    Will keep you all updated as progress continues.
