[Hammarlund] sp600 for ham work?

Of course, just about any radio can be loads of fun on the ham bands,
even those with a LOT less capability than a magnificent SP-600. My
first station sported a one-tube regen receiver and two-tube transmitter
built from plans in the ARRL's "How to Become a Radio Amateur" booklet.
Later, as my technical horizons expanded exponentially, I crafted a very
simple phasing type, single band, SSB transmitter out of Popular
Electronics ('cuz the magazine had wiring drawings as well as
schematics), but still retained my "hot" regenerative receiver.

And, heck, during my QRP phase in the '70's I used a Heathkit HW-7 --
which seemed like an actual step backward from my first setup! I enjoyed
them all tremendously.

But then, I still get a little thrill anytime anyone answers my CW CQ in
the middle of the night!
