[Hammarlund] Has anyone here ever "built" a SP-600?

John R. Leary would take a SP-600 down to the bare chassis, custom make
additional pieces for the top of the chassis (depending on that particular
configuration), replace the wiring, resistors and capacitors. He must have got a
"bargain" on white wire with a blue tracer, as two of the Leary's I owned had
lots's of it..................fun to trace something out when it was bundled
and laced..................:-)

He built about 40 of 'em. Even built a National NC-800, he used two NC-400's
to make it. One thing about his custom SP-600's, they were hot as a
firecracker sensitivity wise.

Well Phil, it seems enough time has passed since you asked about this,
soooo....

Prof. Locklear has a fairly extensive knowledge of the Leary-modified
Hammarlunds, '200s and '600s, IIRC. This guy made some...shall we
say...interesting versions? Pretty wild paint schemes too (I bet HE is
the one who started black panels!). I think Les even wrote up one or
two of these units for ER some years back?

Sounds like quite a project, whatever you end up doing....
