Some of you may remember last month I asked some questions about the can and
transformer heating up in a 180, the common consensus seemed to be to
replace the can. It is now on it's way to Frontier Capacitor to be rebuilt.
I replaced it temporarily with the following:
100 uf for the 60 uf
and three 47 uf's for the 40 uf's. (the voltages for these replacement caps
are all higher than originals)
I had just aligned this radio and every band was dead on, now on the dial
the frequencies have all shifted to the left, for ex. WWV, 10 mHz is now at
about 9.96 mHz or in other words (in case my math is off) it has shifted
about 1/16 of an inch to the left. All bands have shifted to the left about
the same amount 1/16". (I don't think I disturbed the dial although that did
enter my mind).
I have two questions:
1. Do you think the voltage has gone up too much because of the 100 uf cap?
(was the closet I could find) and if so:
2. Do you think this rise in voltage is responsible for the frequency shift?
