[Hammarlund] Hammarlund HC-10 Converstion Oscillator Pulling by AGC

AGC in the HC-10 is applied to the first conversion oscillator/mixer stage
(and other stages). On strong signals, the AGC caused pulling of the
oscillator, resulting in an unfortunate "warble" in the signal. Somewhere on
some list several years ago I recall a discussion about curing this problem.

One obvious option would be to simply remove AGC from the 395Khz Osc/mixer
stage (1st stage in the HC-10). I haven't tried it yet, and there may be
other ill effects caused by letting this stage run full open all the time.

I also recall a suggestion that zener regulation of (I think) the screen of
this stage would also eliminate the problem. Does anyone recall any of the
particulars of this latter solution?

Thanks ... Grant/NQ5T
