Just a note:
All manuals were automatically copyrighted when they
were written. You need to take a look at the
Copyright Law of the United States of America. You
can either purchase the "book" from the government or
you can have it for free from
http://www.copyright.gov/title17/index.html
But, everything is copyrighted when it is created and
does not pass into "public domain" for 90 years after
its creation on things like manuals that were written
"for hire". On things created for other reasons the
copyright varies but is based on the death of the
author.
However, in any case the manuals are definitely
covered by the copyright law.
