Well folks:
With Phil getting his SP-600 on the air, I'm also in the process of putting together a 2 tube transmitter for the HQ. I was inspired to do this after I got the old girl put together and looked at some old novice photos. So, I'm putting together a 6AG7/VR-150 transmitter together in a fairly small package. She'll be running on the 30 and 40 meter bands so I'm looking forward to working CW on those bands. The footprint is quite small (7x5x2). I already have most of the parts for the unit.
The only disturbing thing is that I got a bunch of 2.5 mH chokes from Dan's Small parts. Perfect inductance but I'm not too sure about the current handling capability. I'm hoping it will handle at least 60-75 mA. If so, then were good to go. I queried him and I'm waiting for his reply.
Other than that, that's it. I have some prelim pix of the xmtr in it's embryonic stages. I also bought some Greenlee punches to ensure that I have a professionally put together transmitter. This is in sharp contrast to the 5763 one tuber I built using Charless Caringella's (W6JNV) book of Ham radio projects where I hack a nice aluminum chassis up using files, nails, and what have you. Email me if interested.
