The mods suggested by Rippel (and others) do help a bit, but the real 
problem is the audio output transformer - it is really not massive enough to 
pass much bass. If you really want the lows, you should get a different 
detector, like the Sherwood synchronous detector.

The 600 is a great receiver but lacks low end audio. I have found a couple

audio mods by Chuck Ripple WA4HHG, and N3FRQ.
I wonder if anyone has tried these or others and what they thought.
