Please take a chance and try to check in on Saturday August 20th for the HCI 40
meter Net. Now I know that the propagation has been extremely unstable and the
skip zone changes numerous times during the Net. However, Some of you are
listening, not hearing ttraffic and concluding there is no Net. Not correct! I
am there, along with some others, names and call signs subject to change without
notice! So give a shout, hang around and try again. I know it is frustrating,
but if you park and wait, the propagation generally will switch in your favor
give or take X minutes.

The pre-Net commences at 12:30 PM EDT, (1630 UTC) The Net proper will start at
1:00 PM EDT, (1700 UTC). The frequency is 7.280 MHZ lsb +/- for key clicks, mike
splatter and some kind of chatter, who knows from whom or where!

So stop by, park your carcus for a while, suck down an iced tea, munch something
healthy and listen up. We might drift right into the speaker in front of your
nose with such awesome volume that your hair, all eight of them, get neatly
parted without the use of a comb. Here is hoping to hear you Saturday with some
information on that Hallicrafters hand held VHF unit from 1947. Was it military?
Was it commercial? Was it a military product turned civilian? Going along with
it in this old photo from 1947 is what appears to be a home radio system with
gold grille cloth and a simulated wood cabinet. No model numbers on either of
them. What are they?
