Okay gurus -- here's one for the hardcore restoration mavens:
Which is preferable for general paper cap replacement in HF circuits,
metallized polyester film or metallized polypropylene film?
I tend to use them interchangeably, depending upon what's at hand. I
prefer the tubular film caps to Orange Drops (or clones) simply because
they're not as awkward to install in tight spaces and the leads are
easier to dress and insulate from nearby objects.. Is there any
operational difference in these film types? Polypropylene sounds cooler
and more "techie". I mean, polyester is what leisure suits were made
from. Ughh. I don't suppose that would be considered an engineering
criterion, though :-) .
Thanks and 73,
Craig
