[Hammarlund] Heathkit Q multiplier

Hi, I just bought a Heathkit model GF-1 Q multiplier from Ebay from 1958, it 
has a 12AX7 in it, is missing the octal socket at the end but otherwise 
looks in really nice shape. Has anyone here every hooked one of these up to 
an HQ-180? I know it needs filament and plate power and also needs to be 
hooked up to the IF circuit, any tips? I assume to just run the plate and 
filament to a tube socket for the power but where do I hook into the IF 
circuit? Also will I get any benefit from this? My radio is almost mint and 
don't want to hack it up at all, thanks,
