Mike,
As a proud owner of a HQ-180, and having spent a lot of time aligning the rig. I too was
disapointed with the audio. I have TONS of sensitivity, TONS of selectivity and adjacent
interference rejection, I mostly run the rig with a reduced RF gain control.
If only it sounded better on AM. One could "stagger tune" the IF, but then all the other
desirables would go away.
Thats the difference between a communications receiver, and a SWL receiver.
My SP-200 on 12kHz bandwidth sound Hi-Fi, very good for 1938....
