Try to stay awake after you devour your supper and join us for the Wednesday May
19th HCI Global Glow Roundtable. The propagation has been so long as of late
that communications are practically point to point only. Which makes it nearly
impossible for those not near one of the points to be heard, even with several
relay stations operating. But do not despair, the band has also been subject to
very frequent changes in propagation and may go from very long to quite short in
a matter of a few seconds. I know it is frustrating for those trying to check in
and join us, just as it is for me trying to hear and identify those faint far
off signals.
I will be on the air at 5:30 PM EDT, (2130 UTC) until about 8:00 PM EDT, (2400
UTC). The frequency will be 14.315 MHz usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and
stations not using a prefix assigned by zodiac sign to the 'outer planets' and
their satellites! I could be mistaken, but I think Voyager #1 checked in last
Wednesday! Then again it might have been an old Star Trek rerun bouncing back to
Earth after hitting an alien TV spam shield on a planet in the Alpha Centuri
system!
I hope to hear many of you tomorrow evening. So warm up those wonders that still
go glow in the dark, (No, not your Flash Gordon secret nighttime signal ring
with that Radium laden paint that caused all the hair to fall out of your
childhood family Cat!), but those vacuum tube rigs. Hear you then! What was
Voyager's call sign anyhow?
