[Hammarlund] new tubes and SP-600 noise floor

As I mentioned yesterday, my A/B comparison (well, actually A/B/C) of tubes 
demonstrated that Sylvania's 6BA6 JAN tubes seem to be quieter that other 
brands, with no compromise in gain -- especially when compared with Philips 
ECG.  The relative price of these tubes bears out the differences in 
performance. I've found Philips 6BA6 military tubes for less than two 
dollars apiece while at least one audiophile source charges $15.00 apiece 
for the Sylvania JAN equivalent.  Of course, that could be reflective of 
the ready supply of each, too.  There seems to be a generous supply of the 
Philips tubes. I suppose we should be grateful for this.
