Hi

The "least hum" instructions usually show up on radios with only one 
bypass capacitor. They work just like the Guitar amps with the switch 
on them (throw switch for least hum). With the single bypass capacitor 
you are acting as the switch by flipping the plug back and froth in the 
wall socket,
