[Hammarlund] Collins or Hammarlund?

'Almost all Digital" makes a local oscillator display unit:
http://www.aade.com/C-hamm/Chamm.htm
It's a bit steep though, at about $150 ($120 for it in kit form).
It couples to the loc osc circuit through a pickup wire placed inside under
the LO tube shield. It also comes with a pre-amp circuit for the pickup
lead, if needed.

I've thought about one of these.. but what fun would it then be ?. Might as
well by a digital radio,

The processor on this unit is already programmed for common IF freqs (by
Hammarlund model number) so the oscillator freq is offset by the IF freq and
the result (tuned frequency) is then displayed on the display unit's LCD
panel.

I believe you could do a similar thing with a freq counter. Just that you'd
have to adjust mentally for the IF freq and possibly also provide a preamp
circuit -- or wire the pickup to the tube socket.

Or.. you could possibly build this unit and also use it as a freq counter
(up to 30MHZ.).
