FWIW - The earlier octal based VR tubes,  0A3, 0B3, 0C3, and 0D3 ( 
aka  VR75, VT90, VR105 and VR150)  were all rated at 5 to 40 ma operating 
current, Maximum peak current for 10 seconds 100 ma.

I haven't found a data sheet to verify that this 10 second peak current 
rating of more than twice the max operating current was continued in the 
later miniature base tubes.
