Hmmm. It's all very confusing, really. My receiver is indeed an HQ-170A VHF. However, if I use a 2K dropping resistor at R53, I get 143 volts on the regulator tube socket -- which seems too much for the specified OB2 tube (but is correct for an OA2). If, however, I use a 3K resistor as specified in the HQ-170A (non VHF)manual, the voltage drops to 104 volts -- which is just right for the OB2.
Does anyone else have an HQ-170A VHF? If so, what is the value of R53 and what regulator tube does your receiver use.
Many thanks, as always,
Craig
