Arright, folks, this is a new one on me:
You know the little grooved brass wheel that goes between the big =
weighted
brass wheel on the tuning shaft and the vernier dial? It is about the =
size
of a very thick quarter and slides on a small shaft affixed to the front
panel.
Well, I got a receiver where that wheel is plastic! Not just plastic, =
but
soft plastic, like 50's baby dolls were made of. It is *exactly* the =
same
shape and size of the original brass wheel, down to the beveled edges.
Anybody ever see or hear of anything like that?
I hypothesize that they got so many complaints about the brass wheel
slipping that they tried a plastic one, but probably quickly discovered =
that
the plastic one wears out quickly and went back to brass.
The one I have is so worn that it couldn't turn anything.
