[Hammarlund] SP600-JX17 Availability

hi all,
I agree with Cecil, the -JX-17 isn't the "best" SP-600, in fact maybe
over-rated in desireability because of the AVC differences that were put
in for diversity use, where 2 were slaved together. I've had 2 -JX-17's,
offered them for sale as a pair, to be used as intended, but there was no
interest in them as a pair.
If you go to The Hammarlund Historian website, you'll find a page with
SP-600 model descriptions that was put together by Les Locklear:
http://www.hammarlund.info/sp600.html
For the -JX-17 you'll see that it was/is common. Of coure 'common"
varies with age & market.
-----------
      "contract- June 17, 1952, SP-600-JX-17, Std. frequency range, 54O
khz-54mhz. Diversity receiver. Manufactured for Air Material Command.
Note: easily identified by 'red metal knobs'. The most common of the
SP-600 series receivers."
------------
If you go thru the list, you'll see that there's very little actual
difference between models, almost none in actual performance. It's been a
while since I compared the JX-17 AVC differences, so won't cover them
here, now, except as I remember, it is not as active as the others, and
can lead to overloading. I think Andy Moorer covers it somewhere on his
website, http://www.jamminpower.com/main/ba.jsp
I also agree with Cecil, I wish I had a warehouse full that I could
work on & get to new "enjoyers." I do have 4 at the moment, none ready
for adoption. They are great receivers, and some of us like to work on
them.
