Yeah Dan, this is confusing. I threw in my two cents worth because I knew
that balun stuff wasn't the problem. It's in the radio and since I don't
have that model I have nothing more to offer. (I'm using the HQ-180 and
HQ-110C. Yes, the clock still works.) My first stupid guess would concern a
problem between the bandswitch and antenna input. Hopefully others on the
list can forget about baluns and help you figure out the problem. They're
all good folks and deserve to be here more than I do. The SP600 is on my
"near future want list." I hope to learn some stuff from you. Keep us
posted. I brought home a ham transceiver made by Atlas and will check it out
tomorrow. It came from a wherehouse filled with aircraft radio equipment. If
