[Hammarlund] sp-600

Here's something I just discovered. If I put a long wire in the ant center
its seems very good, the 51-j3 is still a little bit better, but the j3 I
got is super hot on bb. If I connect a coax cable to the ant and clip the
long wire to the center of the other end it cuts the gain way down?????? In
other words just unscrewing the outer part of the coax from touching the
ground the signal goes back up. Is this normal?
