As always, all flavors and cents of vintage gear are welcome - If it isn't
vacuum, fake a hum!
Join us on Sunday August 1st for the HCI 20 meter Net. Prognostication
proclamations by soothsayers, space weather flux psychics and Aunt Flabby's big
toe barometric pressure sensitive bunion assure us that old Sol will hurl, but
nobody knows for sure what, where or when. So whether the weather that affects
the ping pong ionosphere effect is pinging or pinging, we are going to have some
fun in spite of perfect or putrid propagation.
I will be on the air about 12:20 PM EDT, (1620 UTC), fine tuning the electron
cannon that I have carefully aimed at the D layer of the ionosphere at the exact
angle necessary to blow a hole straight through it allowing the modulated PEP to
wrap itself around your antenna, zip down that feedline and right into your
receiver in glorious high fidelity. So drift on in early and hang with me as we
whack those vacuum tube energized electrons around the planet like they were
Helium filled ping pong balls being smacked around by muscle bound Olympic
wrestlers using Titanium paddles!
The pre-Net commences at 12:45 PM EDT, (1645 UTC). The Net proper begins at 1:15
PM EDT, (1715 UTC). The frequency will be 14.293 MHZ usb +/- for key clicks,
mike splatter and the unmistakable sizzling sound of farm fresh bacon being
fried in a very hot cast iron skillet, as that sound can not possibly be
atmospheric noise, right? Unless it is that favorite camping accessory so loved
by teenage boys that vaporizes small insects and slow roasts June bugs or Moths!
Ah yes, the Electronic Bug Zapper!
This Sunday will be somewhat slanted toward helping those in need find a part or
an item, as well as giving those of you with parts, equipment, manuals,
books/magazines and etc. the opportunity to find them new homes and save
yourself time by not having to dust them any longer!
I am looking forward to hearing many of you tomorrow, so come early and stay
late. We all appreciate your participation and value your bits of wisdom,
friendly greetings, tales of yesteryear, helpful guidance and priceless
fellowship. the latter being what has made the HCI Sunday Net the tremendous
success that it is. Thanks for being there!
