[Hammarlund] HQ129X

I have a Hq129X that I am restoring and the AVC acts they same way as the 
reciever that Gary W3OG Has.I listen to the AM signals on 75 mtrs in the evening  
and when the signals get very strong distortion begins and I have to back 
down the Sensitivity control like Gary does..I thought I might have some bad 
resistors on the AVC line...Is this typical of the Hq129X?..tnx es 73's Ron W6MAU
