Hi Pat et al;
Thanks for the advice. Actually, I have it working. This was the
scenario:
I tried heating it with a heat gun. Just hot enough that I could barely
handle it. It ran for 1/2 hour then stopped, I drilled a 1/16th inch hole
in the top and the bottom, being careful the drill bit barely went
through the copper. I submerged it in 99% alcohol. The top hole lets the
air out as the alcohol enters the bottom hole. I sloshed it around a
while, then drained it out. I filled it a second time and heated it again
and sloshed it around again. Then i drained it again and heated it again
to drive the alcohol out. I covered the bottom hole with solder. I put a
very thin dental pick in the top hole and ran "3-in-one" oil down the
pick. Half of it didn't go in the hole but I probably got 1/2 CC in it.
It ran for 24 hours on the bench so I put it back in the radio. It has
been keeping accurate time for 2 days now. Time will tell.
