Thanks Roy,
    I think I found the culprit (or culprits), there's some components that
dont belong in the circuit that I'm in the process of removing, also there
are some "extra" wires that come from the gain control which are not
supposed to be there... I have eliminated the sizzling sound but still
have some work to do. Its almost as if someone just "practiced" soldering
components in this thing... I have the "extended" HQ 180 manual on
its way, it'll be interesting to compare the two manuals to see the various
circuit changes. I'll post my progress as it comes.
