My suggestion is buy a set for spares and use any of the original that
test good. 50 years of repairing radios has convinced me the best tube
tester is substitution. Try the new tube and see if performance is
better. If it is in a tuned circuit you should re tune the input and
output. I have found on occasion the old tube works better than a new
one. Replace any new tube you leave in so as to have a complete set of
spares. If the radio uses more than one of a type, one spare is
sufficient. The FCC has a table of how many spares you need for the
number in use for broadcast stations. I don't have the figures in front
of me but is something like: 1-3, 1 spare; 4-8, 2 spares; 9-15, 3 spares;
etc. Good luck.
