[Hammarlund] SP-600 JX17 is playing very nicely.

Hi, me again.
Well, it looks like I 'might' have finally got all the bugs ironed out =
of
this JX17. I've been listening to it extensively the last few days (and
making the air conditioner run overtime 8^) and no new bugs have cropped =
up.

The first few days after the overhaul the dial calibration shifted a =
little.
I've found that is normal and suspect that it is the DeOxit D5 "cooking =
out"
of the tuning capacitor (grounding rubbing surfaces), tube sockets etc.
Anyway, Saturday evening I tweaked it back on frequency and it's staying =
put
now with no more sudden shifts due to flaky mica capacitors. It'll =
probably
run for another 50 years <BIG GRIN>. =20

One thing I've noticed is that it calibrated "dead on" at the low and =
high
end of the various bands and has a small "bulge" around the middle of =
the
tuning ranges. Not a lot, just enough to notice it. HOWEVER, it is =
close
enough that I have no intention of "knife edging" the tuning capacitor
plates. =20
