Hi Phil,

Yes, they run HOT, the SPC-10 also runs HOT. You have a couple of choices, 
remove the 5Y3 and solid state it with a dropping resistor. Or, use a small 
muffin fan (I used a 4") on top and DRAW the heat away from the chassis. I ran a 
SPC-10 like that for over 3 years.
