Hi.
I now have my SP-600 set in one of the DXing positions for burn-in and
checkout.
Then this morning I did a "brief" looksee inside the HC-10, cleaned the
controls and switches etc and then tuned it to the SP-600 IF output, finding
the Notch coils was tuned way off resonance. Found no ugly black capacitors
(BBoD's) or such in it and the PS filter can seems good so it too went onto
the listening bench, connected to the SP-600.
Right now I'm listening to the West Coast swap net on the combination and it
seems to do very well. Much better than trying to copy SSB on the SP-600
alone. The combination appears to be very stable, at least in the 40 meter
band.
QUESTION: The HC-10 seems to get VERY warm on top. Is this normal for this
unit? There doesn't appear to be any electrical problem in it and the
cabinet is well ventilated (the typical "Holy Hammy" case). Guess it'll be
useful for keeping my coffee hot in the winter 8^)
