[Hammarlund] Need Help on SP-600JX17

I have a nice Hammarlund SP-600JX17 Receiver. It works great now that I have
the tuning control working, thanks to
help from several  fellows in the Group. However, I have now noticed one
additional problem. The receiver is very sensitive on all bands except the
3.45-7.4 band position. On that band, sensitivity is way down until I turn
the Band Change control slightly clockwise, then the sensitivity jumps up to
the level I notice on other bands. I have to hold the knob in this position.
If I let go of it, it pops back in position and the sensitivity goes down.
This is the only band where this happens. I cleaned the little pins on the
tuning terrent, but still the same problem. Any ideas? This receiver does
not look like it has been used much, so I don't think that it is worn out.
