Have slight problem in HQ 180XE. Symptoms as follow:
1. In "both" sideband position works well on both sidebands in med, fast,
and slow  AVC.
2. In LSB position there is a beat note from the BFO, with no other signal
present to be beat against, and the pitch of the note can be varied with the
BFO tuning knob. Thisd condition only exists when the AVC is in the med or
slow position.
3.In USB position rcvr works fair, however; in the med and slow AVC
position, there tends to be a beat note present without a signal to beat
against, but not as bad as when in the LSB position.

I am wondering if the rcvr has SSB selection crystals chosing the beat freq
and possibly the crystals have gone bad or have been replaced in the wrong
positions. I haven't studied the rcvr enough to know however the BFO
oscillator is audible in the slow and med AVC psoitions.

Has anyone experienced these symptoms in a HQ 180?. Your experience
