Almost all of the WW2 Wireless Sets (British military and other non-US
Allied forces nomenclature for radio transmitting and receiving equipment)
had watch holders on them and pocket watches were issued to mount them in
those holders, to keep the net times. Among them were of course the Wireless
Set No. 19, Wireless Set 22, Wireless Set 52 (Canadian), Reception Set 107,
Reception Set 109, Wireless Set Z.C.1, to mention a few.
The pocket watches were mostly Swiss made, were marked "G.S.T.P" (General
Purpose Time Piece), contract number and the British Crown property "broad
arrow" mark.

Most of these watches work well even today...

".........Was it the "Model 19 Set", designed in England, that had a pocket
watch
installed in the front panel?

The purpose, of course, was to let the operator transmit at the correct
time according to the operational communications plan.
