Just a shot in the dark here (SWAG?), but I wonder if it wasn't a
precurser to the JX-17(is this the diversity model with the red knobs?
or JX-21? I haven't had my coffee yet...) that TMC modified to fill a
need? Seems rather silly to modify existing early models if there was
already a diversity model being produced. Perhaps they built it to
certain specifications for a specific radio system where the JX-**
wouldn't work? Hard to say without comparing them side-by-each. At the
very least, it looks like they made a bunch of them if the s/n is any
indication. Should be others out there who can contribute info.
Too bad they didn't engrave the panels for the mod. Looks like the
original silkscreening is going away pretty badly in places. At least
the original stamped/engraved lettering can be refilled.
