Hi Barry,
I believe I watched that SP-600 sell on ebay. I would have bid but I had =
just purchased one a few weeks before.=20
Yours looked like a very nice unit.
I think that the J-22 was made like the J-25 , that is the J-25 has a =
25-60CPS power supply, and the filter chokes required were too tall to =
permit installing the Crystal tuning unit.
South America is probably where the old USA 25Hz power generating =
equipment went, and special type equipment was required to operate at =
their stations. Probably alot of these SP-600's never actually left the =
USA.=20
 The SP-600 that I bought on eBay came from NY, and was converted to an =
ISB teletype receiver by ITT. It is a strange bird. It receives SSB =
sometimes regardless of where the BFO is set. Basicly, it is a poor =
Amateur receiver (however 75meters works quite well), but it can pick up =
distant SW or MW radio stations, and fill my house with great tube =
audio. I am driving a 12" speaker using a 75V transformer, and using a =
150' wire antenna. It's a keeper!
